Resume Checklist PDF Print E-mail

Typically a lot of work goes into your resume. The last thing you need is to be let down by simple errors or oversights. The following checklist should help ensure your hard work gets you the job you want.

  • Personal Details

Make sure they are all there and that they are all correct. Include your name, address, e-mail address, and telephone numbers(which ever an employer is most likely to be able to get you on).
  • Employment Objective

State the type of work or specific job you are seeking. It goes without saying that you should be seeking employment in a position such as that you are applying for.
  • Education

Include school name and address, dates of attendance, major, and highest year completed or degree awarded. Consider including any courses or areas of focus that might be relevant to the position including trade tickets and vendor accreditations.
  • Experience

Include paid and non-paid(volunteer) work. For each job, include the job title, name and location of employer, and dates of employment. Briefly describe your job duties.
  • Special skills

Computer skills, proficiency in foreign languages, achievements, and membership in organizations.
  • References

    Only when requested.
  • Keep it short

Only one page for less experienced applicants.
  • Avoid Long Paragraphs & Don't Ramble On

Make sure you keep to the point highlighting achievements. Use bullets to highlight key skills and accomplishments rather than long winded texts.
  • Check, check again and re-check!

Have several people review your resume for any spelling or grammatical errors.
